WanderTogether ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Email address (required to create an account)
Display name (optional, set by you)
Profile photo (optional, set by you)

Location Data

Foreground location — your GPS coordinates while the app is open, used to show nearby destinations and trigger audio at points of interest
Background location — with your explicit permission, used to play tour audio automatically when you approach a point of interest while your phone is in your pocket

Location data is used in real time to power your tour experience. We do not build a historical log of everywhere you have been.

Travel Preferences & Trip Data

Your travel style and interests (provided when setting up your guide persona)
Trip destinations, itineraries, and points of interest you create
AI-generated tour narration and audio associated with your trips
Favourite trips and stops

Technical Data

Push notification tokens (to deliver tour-ready notifications)
Language preference
Device type and operating system (for crash reporting and compatibility)

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To generate personalised AI audio tours based on your location and preferences
To detect when you are near a point of interest and play relevant audio
To send push notifications about your tours (e.g. "Your audio is ready")
To allow you to share tours with collaborators or friends
To improve the accuracy and quality of our AI-generated content

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following service providers solely to operate the app:

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Trip data and audio files are stored until you delete them or close your account. You may request full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Delete your account and all associated data
Withdraw consent for background location at any time via your device settings
Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format

6. Children's Privacy

WanderTogether is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit and row-level security on our database. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
